
Julia Tasker is a director and writer who grew up in North Carolina and spent twelve years living in Los Angeles before returning home in 2020 with a small baby, a husband, and a cat. As a filmmaker, Julia's experience in theatre, film and TV production, as well as development contribute to a thoughtful and detailed approach to her storytelling.
Julia completed a BA in film studies from The University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2004 and earned her MFA in directing from the American Film Institute in 2012.
She is currently in post-production on her most recent short On Reserve, which explores the complexities of a friends-with-benefits relationship and the missed opportunity for a deeper connection.
Julia's interests include early 80's New York art world, 90's fashion, David Bowie, dogs, and whatever her daughter is listening to.
